Allan Gold, MD, LDFAPA

I am certified in General Psychiatry, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, and Somatic Experiencing, and am a graduate psychoanalyst of the Baltimore-Washington Center for Psychoanalysis, with additional expertise and specialization in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, and Internal Family Systems psychotherapy. In my 45 year career since residency at the University of Maryland and Sheppard Pratt Hospitals I have been an assistant professor at University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins departments of psychiatry, teaching and supervising psychotherapy. I have worked in the private practice of general psychiatry, adult and child psychoanalysis and psychotherapy, community psychiatry, hospital liaison psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, and rehabilitation psychiatry. My approach to psychotherapy is an eclectic one integrating, psychodynamic, mindfulness, somatic awareness, and Internal Family Systems approaches depending on what works best for the individual. I have had a special interest and expertise in teaching about and working with dreams in psychotherapy. Currently as Co-Director of Gladstone’s Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy program I combine these approaches with using ketamine to increase access to emotions and past memories..
