Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

In 2022, The Centers for Disease Control reported that among young people aged 3 to 17, 10% had been diagnosed with ADHD, 9% with Anxiety, 9% with behavior problems, and 4% with depression. This represents millions of children across the United States.

What is child and adolescent psychiatry?

Child and adolescent psychiatry helps families navigate the challenges of the formative years. Childhood presents a unique set of challenges, including differences in healing strategies such as medication. Young people experiencing mental health difficulties must be treated differently than adults. At Gladstone Psychiatry and Wellness, we have multiple psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and therapists who specialize in treating young people.

What makes our providers different?

We offer parents an opportunity to meet with their child’s provider individually during the first session. This initial meeting allows parents to discuss their child’s needs in privacy. Following this initial meeting, the provider meets the child. Additionally, our providers empower children (of appropriate age and maturity) to play an active role in their own care as much as possible.

Our child and adolescent psychiatry providers see children from 3 to 17 years old. They have a wide array of specialties, some of which include:

ADHD
Generalized anxiety disorder
Social anxiety disorder
Obsessive compulsive disorder
Depression
Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder
Bipolar I and II
Substance use disorder
Autism spectrum disorder
Psychotic disorders like schizophrenia

Please note, at this time, Gladstone Psychiatry and Wellness does not offer neuropsychiatric or academic testing.
