Alicia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) in the state of Maryland, and holds an MA from the University of Maryland, Baltmore in clinical social work and behavioral health, with a focus on substance use disorders. She was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and has spent extensive time abroad in a number of countries and cultures. Her sensitivity around how cultural nuances and transitions can affect mental health and well-being was enhanced through this exprerience, and volunteer work with marginalized groups later led to her interest in social work.
She works collaboratively with teens and adults, individuals and families, and uses a client-centered, strength- based approach to help gain insight into issues, emotions, and behaviors that may pose challenges to a healthier and more fulfilling life.
Alicia’s diverse training allows her to incorporate a variey of modalities in her work with clients. She has completed trainings in CBT modalities through the Beck Institute’s On-Demand program, as well as training in CPT for PTSD, AFFIRM for LGBTQ+ youth and families, Motivational Interviewing, TF-CBT for children and families, OCD training with Sheppard Pratt’s Center for OCD and Anxiety, and participated in a training for Addictions counseling at Catholic Charities. She enjoys learning and is currently participating a program focused on family and couples work, and is working towards completing a Complex Trauma Certification course (CCPT/CCPT II).
Prior to joining Gladstone, she worked for 3 years at Sheppard Pratt in an outpatient setting, serving a diverse population of individuals and families, and for 5 years as a crisis counselor for telephonic and chat-based crisis intervention and suicide prevention.
Her areas of interest include addictions and co-occurring disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger management, severe mental illness, and mood disorders.
